Dioxygenases,atalyzes the aerobic oxidation of fatty acids, particularly linoleic acid, to the hydroperoxides. More specifically, lipoxygenase catalyzes the oxidation of .-1,4-pentadienes to the hydroperoxides of .- l,3-dienes (Figure 18–2).

Cytochrome P-450,tions (Bjorkhem and Danielson, 1970; Ellin.., 1972; Ichihara et al., 1979). Either cytochrome P-450 or similar iron-containing monooxygenases cleave inositol to n-glucuronic acid (Charalampous, 1959, 1960).
