Biological Responses to UV-B Radiation Dosagesther decay of the stratospheric ozone layer would not significantly contribute to an increase of the UV-protective reactions. This UV increase rather could inhibit these processes that depend on gene activation and, therefore, are sensitive to DNA damage, for example, by dimer formation.

The Effect of Clouds on Ultraviolet Radiationements with spatial variations showing a cloud edge enhancement effect are shown. This cloud edge enhancement effect can be explained by Mie scattering. It is proposed that jet contrails can actually increase the UV-B exposure levels near large airports.
