Problems with Early Medieval Romanness,mergence of Islam loom large historiographical traditions not just of later eastern Christians but of Muslims and western Europeans as well. Later historians working in each of these traditions assembled narratives bridging the change and continuity of this era which were intelligible and meaningful to their own audiences.
