Binding on the Fly: Cross-Sentential Anaphora in Variable-Free Semanticserently. “Variable-free” semantics is, more precisely, “free of variable binding”: it has no operation like abstraction that turns a free variable into a bound one; it uses combinators—operations on functions—instead.
