,Chinese Schematic Idioms—Productivity and Constraints,n of the overall expression. The actual distributional statistics of schematic idioms as reflected in a large Chinese corpus will also be examined. Finally, the variables that are expected to play roles during the learning of Chinese schematic idioms, both linguistic and nonlinguistic ones, will be spotted.

Study Two,. Findings imply that the speakers do not learn schematic idioms as arbitrary combinations. Kids as young as nine begin to notice the lexical status of open fillers and make generalisations upon the productivity and meaning-inferences of an idiomatic variant based on this awareness.

Study Three, pattern very similar to that of adults in learning the different senses. Overall findings in Study Three indicate that the learning of .A.B expressions is a gradual process that starts from the core sense and progressively extends to the peripheral ones.
