Brain Oxygenation Monitoring during Cardiopulmonary Bypass by Near Infrared Spectroscopyn (Bashein, 1990), microembolism (Gallagher, 1973), and release of biocompatible materials. These factors can affect the intraoperative oxygen supply to the brain modifying the arterial oxygen saturation, the total and regional cerebral blood flow, and the hemoglobin (Hb) content.
