Vibrational Absorption of O and N Interstitial Atoms and Related Centres,the small grey spheres, and they define what is called broadly “interstitial” sites in the title of the chapter, even if more accurate terms as “bond centred” or “antibonded” can later be used. Interstitial locations can be occupied by small or relatively small atoms like H, Li or Mg, O, and N, and also by relatively heavy metal atoms like Cu.
