Dietary Restriction and Metabolism and Diseasearkably long life for those rats that survived past the first year of life. This finding has become a cornerstone of experimental gerontology. It has been repeated many times in several rodent species and has been found to be effective even when the food restriction is not severe enough to retard maturation markedly (2).
