Arithmetic Functions IBesides the notions of additive and multiplicative functions, and examples thereof, there is the Fermat–Euler theorem, and a description of the decimal system. Other topics include Dirichlet convolutions, additive characters, Gauss sum and Ramanujan sum.

Primitive RootsProofs of the existence of primitive roots modulo a prime, and the primitive-roots theorem are given. After the proof of Korselt’s theorem there is a description of how to find Carmichael numbers. The key-exchange protocols in cryptography is explained with an application of the discrete logarithm.

Prime Number TheoremFollowing a brief sketch of the prime number theorem, the proof is given along the lines of Newman’s simplified proof of the Ikehara–Wiener tauberian theorem.
