描述.This book presents contributions to the 18th biannual symposium of the German Aerospace Aerodynamics Association (STAB). The individual chapters reflect ongoing research conducted by the STAB members in the field of numerical and experimental fluid mechanics and aerodynamics, mainly for (but not limited to) aerospace applications, and cover both nationally and EC-funded projects. By addressing a number of essential research subjects, together with their related physical and mathematics fundamentals, the book provides readers with a comprehensive overview of the current research work in the field, as well as its main challenges and new directions. Current work on e.g. high aspect-ratio and low aspect-ratio wings, bluff bodies, laminar flow control and transition, active flow control, hypersonic flows, aeroelasticity, aeroacoustics and biofluid mechanics is exhaustively discussed here..

The Influence of the Diffusion Model on the Separation Sensitivity of Differential Reynolds Stress Mc aerodynamic test cases. While there is very little influence on the pressure distribution, some differences are observed in the predicted skin friction, revealing the more complex diffusion models to enhance the sensitivity to separation.

Numerical Approach Aspects for the Investigation of the Longitudinal Static Stability of a TransportThe aim of the investigation is to gain more certainty about the approach to evaluate the longitudinal stability and controllability of a high-lift configuration of a transport aircraft with circulation control. Since the work was carried out with a CFD RANS approach, a comprehensive meshing study was performed in advance.

Efficient Global Optimization of a Natural Laminar Airfoil Based on Surrogate Modelingn with the adaptive sample refinement strategies features a good balance between global exploration and local exploitation. Additionally, the effect of different design points on the objective function can be automatically considered in the refinement procedure.
