Neutron Radiography in BrazilNeutron radiography studies being carried out in reactor centres in Brazil are discussed. These research projects are under way using the 5 MW swim.ing pool reactor at the Institute of Energy and Nuclear Research (IPEN) in Sao Paulo and the Argonaut reactor at the Institute of Nuclear Engineering (IEN) in Rio de Janeiro.

Introduction to the Conference growing field. One striking feature is the diversity of applications that have been demonstrated. If neutron radiography is valuable for engine development in one country, dentistry in a second country, and forensic science in a third, then eventually such applications may be exploited in most countries.

Physics of Neutron Radiography Using Selected Energy Neutronstrons (<0.001 eV) to 14 MeV. The production, utilization, and detection of neutrons with these different energies frequently involve special considerations discussed in this report. Examples of neutron radiography are given for each of the energy regions except thermal which is treated in another report presented in this Conference.

Characteristics of Neutron Radiography Systems Using Accelerators and a Research Reactorcture (ORC) and Kyoto University Research Reactor (KUR) were set up. The characteristics of neutron beam and the radiographic image qualities with various films available were measured by a Beam Purity Indicator and a Sensitivity Indicator approved by ASTM and a System Image Quality Indicator devised by Barton.
