Note that the Lyapunov functions used in Chapters 2, 4, and 5 do not embody the properties of saturation/deadzone functions.

Dopamine,autonomic nervous system. Most of our knowledge of the functional role of dopamine is in relation to the CNS, relatively little being known about its possible function(s) peripherally. In both the peripheral and central nervous system, dopamine is a precursor of noradrenaline and adrenaline.

5-Hydroxytryptamine,ral nervous system (CNS). 5-HT has the structure of an indolealkyl amine and is synthe-sised from the amino acid L-tryptophan. Neurones which use 5-HT as neurotransmitter are known as 5-hydroxytryptaminergic, serotoninergic or tryptaminergic.
