Calmodulin Modulation of the Calcium Signal in Synaptic Transmissionle of Ca. in stimulus-secretion coupling has also been demonstrated in a variety of secretory processes in several tissues.. Thus, the role of Ca. in synaptic function is well established. One of the major questions in neuroscience research at the present time is what is the molecular mechanism mediating the effects of Ca. on synaptic activity.

Role for Contractile Proteins in Transmitter Release?actomyosin system present in nerve terminals may function in the release of transmitter materials at synaptic junctions (Poisner, 1970; Berl et al., 1973). Little direct evidence in support of such a function has been reported (Babitch et al., 1979).

Pharmacology of the Acetylcholine Release evoked by One or a Few Nerve Impulses at the Nerve-Electrofy the metabolism of ACh since they inhibit the hydrolysis of the transmitter and therefore the subsequent recycling of the two precursors,acetate and choline.Thus a correlation between the electrophysiological and biochemical measurements has proved to be difficult.
