Self-Healing Rings, application of the network synthesis problem, is studied in Chapters 2 to 5. In the present chapter we complete the overview of survivability problems. We concentrate on protection techniques and specifically on self-healing rings.

To conclude this chapter, a literature review is presented and a classification of network synthesis problems is proposed.
