,Decolonisation and Coastal Operations in the East Indies, 1945–50,y in the wake of the Japanese surrender. Soon they were fighting the Dutch, with diplomatic means and with guerilla techniques. The Dutch Colonial Army, together with reinforcements sent from the Netherlands, bore the brunt of the counter-guerilla operations. The NRN assisted their efforts, mainly by blockading the enemy-held coasts.
