Inverse Semigroups of Bicongruences on Algebras, Particularly Semilattices,rmation is explored in the case of semilattices; the main result is that any (meet) semilattice admitting no joins of incomparable elements, and satisfying chain conditions, is determined up to isomorphism by the inverse semigroup of isomorphisms between its quotient semilattices.

Finitely Presented Lattices: Continuity and Semidistributivity,anonical form for the elements of such a lattice and used this to study the covering relation. We showed that there is an effective procedure for finding the covers of any element of a finitely presented lattice. We gave an example of a finitely presented lattice which has no cover at all.

In 1948, Birkhoff restated this question in the Second Edition of his Lattice Theory [2]; however, “(infinitary)” was dropped from the question. This was intentional; G. Birkhoff referred to some continuity conditions that must hold in a congruence lattice of a (finitary) algebra.

Semigroup Graded Rings and Jacobson Rings,n abelian group of finite torsion free rank are Jacobson rings in case the identity component is a left Noetherian Jacobson ring. For monoid rings R[S] of abelian monoids of finite rank the same result holds without R being left Noetherian.
