The Swedish Traffic-Conflicts Techniquethen the technique has been modified and is still under further development, but many of the bases are unchanged, such as the basic hypothesis which says that there is a distinct relation between conflicts with a certain degree of seriousness and accidents.

The methods were not sufficiently standardized and the relation between observations and accidents were not investigated thoroughly.
