This realization, together with continued progress in the growth of new ternary alloy systems and artificial semiconductor heterostructures, have intensified the search for alternative infrared materials.

MCT Materials Aspects,ue material can be made to cover all the IR regions of interest. It is probably true to say that MCT is the third most studied semiconductor after silicon and gallium arsenide. This chapter covers the growth and characterization of MCT, mainly concentrating on the x region between 0.2 and 0.4 where the majority of applications are satisfied.
