描述There is no doubt that the advent of immunocytochemical techniques, by enhancing our ability to detect specific cell products or markers, has opened new avenues in the understanding of human diseases, and in our ability to perform better diagnosis in surgical pathology. The rapid development of this field has resulted in thousands of publications in the literature regarding immunocytochemistry in diagnostic pathology. This explosion of knowledge makes necessary publications summarizing what are the main markers available and how they can be used in the diagnosis of tumors. The need of a more organized and structured knowledge was evident during the workshop in Immunocytochemistry of Tumor Diagnosis that took place in the City of Detroit an October 1984. This book is the result of that workshop in which 22 chapters are focusing an the main subject of differential diagnosis of tumors. Organization of an Immunocytochemistry Laboratory,Modern day histopathology laboratories are becoming increasingly complex due to the rapid and constant development of new techniques leading to a more precise and accurate identification of tissue or cell type, secretory activity, extra cellular substances or specific cell type markers.

Monoclonal Antibodies in the Diagnosis of Solid Tumors: Studies on Renal Carcinomas, Transitional CImmunodiagnosis of cancer may provide an early and objective diagnosis, and aid in staging, monitoring treatment and clinical follow-up of cancer patients. It also may lead to a new classification of human neoplasia based on irnmunohistogenesis.

Immunopathology of Testicular Tumors,The incidence of testicular tumors in general populations is 2 per 100,000, but in the age group of 18 to 34 deaths from testicular tumors are 7 per 100,000 the highest incidence of deaths from malignancy in this group.

Immunocytochemical Demonstration of Cardionatrins in Human Atrial Myocardium,ex, a relatively high proportion of rough endoplasmic reticulum and membrane-bound granules referred to as specific atrial granules. Morphologically as well as histochemically these granules resemble storage granules known to store polypeptide hormones (1,2).
