Introduction to biocide use,using the current vernacular, operators selecting biocides are between the so-called ‘rock and the hard place’. Decisions are made based on benefit/risk ratios. This is not only a health-oriented decision; it is also an economic one.

Preservation of cosmetics and toiletries,ufactured products of similar composition. It was not common to perform confirmatory tests for the efficacy of the preservative in the formulation concerned. The absence of signs indicating spoilage in stored products was considered as sufficient proof of adequate preservation.

Key to Data Sheets and Properties water extendable are usually candidates for biocide use. Depending on product use patterns, selection and application of biocides should be a decision involving the user as well as the formulator of the fluid.
