The Discharging Well,sure declines, but some have a periodic flow or even a regular intermittent discharge like a geyser. It is sometimes useful to have a means of predicting the details of the flow during discharge, and numerical discharge prediction methods have been developed. All of these matters are discussed in this Chapter.

The Transient Response of Formations to Flow in a Well: Transient Pressure Well Testing,nd the historical development of methods of dealing with real effects such as skin and wellbore storage in single-phase flows is described. The chapter ends by describing the approach to analysing the flow in formations containing two-phase fluid and interference testing.

The Equations Governing Heat and Single-Phase Fluid Flow and Their Simplification for Particular Aprements of equipment designers, are introduced. Natural convection and thermal conduction are briefly introduced. The basis of Darcy’s law is discussed, and the governing equations are reduced to a form suitable for the analysis of the flow in permeable formations in geothermal resources.
