When . = 1, concepts such as extreme values, order statistics and record values have natural definitions but when . > 1 this is no longer the case as several different concepts of ordering are possible.

Records and Extremal Processes,e maximum means a record was observed, a record being a value larger than previous values. So the previous question is equivalent to asking how often records occur. Also, at what indices do records occur and do the actual record values have any pattern?
