Carl Noorden (Geheimer Medizinalrat) and . are nocturnal burrowing rodents. The former is typically xerophilic; the latter is more hygrophilic. The populations studied were found to occur sympatrically in a dry wadis south of Foum Tatahouine at approximately the 120–150 mm H.O per year isohyet (LE HOUEROU, 1969).
