Nonenzymic Effects of Pesticides on Membranes,The title of this presentation is too general, for I shall only describe our findings on DDT in synthetic membranes. The intent of the DDT work is, however, not only to satisfy our curiosity about DDT’s action at the molecular level, but also to explore ways to study nonenzymic effects in membranes for toxicants in general.

Physiological Effects of Chlorinated Hydrocarbons on Avian Species,The persistent organochlorines have been shown to effect a number of enzyme systems in mammals and birds. Many of these effects are found only at high concentrations, and it is proposed here to concentrate on those effects which have or may have relevance to existing environmental levels.
