Improving Nitrogen Use Efficient in Crop Plants Using Biotechnology Approachese macromolecules like DNA and proteins that are then required for the genome, cellular structures and overall growth. Low or insufficient available N limits the plant growth and yield (both biomass and grain) of crop plants. Plants obtain fixed-N from the soil as ammonia, nitrate, urea, amino acids and peptides.
