Auroral Oval Configuration During the Quiet Condition,so-called “sun-aligned polar cap arcs” are the manifestation of the auroral oval arcs in the latitudinally expanded dawn or dusk part of the oval. The optical emission intensity and the energy flux of the oval are much weaker during the quiet time.

Electrodynamics of Auroral and Polar Cap Arcs at Very High Latitudes,s and field-aligned currents at very high latitudes. This information is combined with similar results obtained while the radar was at Chatanika, Alaska. Together these data can be used as a framework for a phenomenological understanding of auroral precipitation.
