Overview of Contact Analysis, have been developed at the early stages of contact analysis. The numerical approach instead has developed rapidly during the last three decades and it has been strongly influenced by the advent of digital computers.

Boundary Elements Formulation in Elastostatics,ary elements can be traced back to Betti, Somigliana and Fredholm in the 19th century. More recently, Jaswon [97] studied electrostatic capacitance problems using Fredholm integral equations of the first kind. The derived integral equations were solved numerically by Symm [98].
