Necessity of the concepts: Model for the perceptual organization of the motion quartet. This model is suitable for a detailed quantitative comparison between the theory and experimental data. This permits an evaluation of the ”necessity” of the central theoretical concepts in sense that was defined in chapter 5.

Technical applications of neural fields planning of an autonomous robot. The second example demonstrates how neural fields can be used to integrate multiple vision modules. The presented system constructs a depth map by an integration of motion and disparity information. Finally, some ideas for a computationally efficient implementation of neural fields are discussed.
