The first land plants: patterns of diversity,ductive structures, and the increasing diversity of vegetative structures. The main stages of the vegetative evolution of land plants are described in this chapter. This includes, the evolution of the stele, and of the roots and leaves. Reproductive characters are mentioned but not described in detail until the next chapters.
