The Photochemistry, Photobiology, and Phototherapeutic Use of Porphyrins,t at longer wavelengths than simple unconjugated molecules. The most important absorption bands of porphyrins lie at about the Soret maximum—400 nm—and between 500- and 650-nm wavelength. Depending on pH, there are up to four subsidiary absorption peaks in porphyrins of biological importance (Fig. 21).
