Hydraulics of Dam Breaching,, disaster alleviation, and damage assessment. Some of these elements are interconnected as shown in Figure 3.1. A complete mathematical model incorporating all of these elements does not appear to have been reported yet. Most models are based on two or more elements that hover around breach formation and dam-breach flood routing.

Comparative Evaluation of Dam-Breach Models,onsiderable progress has been made in modeling dam breaching and consequent flood forecasting. Much work, however, remains to be done to further improve dam breach modeling technology. Here we pause and attempt to examine where we have been, where we are and where we ought to be going.
