Introduction,Routing is a major issue in all kinds of networks where items have to be transported from one location to another. These items can be, for example, pieces of information in communication networks or physical goods in logistic networks.

Conclusions and Outlook,In this thesis, a generalised context-aware routing concept was presented that can be used in different application domains. This routing concept includes the signalling as well as the route decision method. The routing traffic was analysed, and specialisations of the routing concept were shown for logistic networks and wireless sensor networks.

Evaluation inWireless Sensor Networks,s a long lifetime, which means the energy consumption is low. As the communication consumes a significant amount of sensor energy, optimising the energy spent in communication usually means energy optimisation for the sensor network as a whole.
