The dual irregular pyramid,pyramid, dual graphs, are defined only if they are planar. We prove that planarity is conserved during the construction of the pyramid. Besides, formulae for the expected number of internal and external nodes at a specific level of the tree are given. Next, the space efficiency of the most popular Quadtree implementations is examined. Finally, the possible usefulness of these analytical tools in other problems is commented.

A linear predictor as a regularization function in adaptive image restoration and reconstruction,tive version of the algorithm is developed by matching a weighting function to the previously selected regularization function.
