Nonlinear Optics,Light waves in a vacuum as given by the Maxwell equations propagate as linear waves. Accordingly, light waves can be superimposed and cross each other without mutual influence. To be sure, quantum electrodynamics predicts an interaction between photons. It can, however, be completely neglected at all practically attainable light intensities.
