History of Coal Combustion and Conversion Technology,y elements of the future exploitation of coal have a history that can be traced back over many decades. This history is reviewed briefly in the present chapter for the three mainstream technologies of fluidised bed combustion, gasification and liquefaction. The history of other technologies is considered with the process descriptions in chapter 6.
