In this work, Fleury, characteristically, spoke frankly of the condition of French society despite the high birth of his pupils and the proximity of the king to his classroom.

Claude Fleury, Educational Historiographer and Thinker: A Synthesis,ion, or the perquisities of royal favor, but to research, teaching, and general scholarship. His primary interest was ecclesiastical history, but, as this study has attempted to demonstrate, he also made a not insignificant contribution to educational theory and historiography.
