The Origin of the Pfeiffer Effectct premalignant stages can be identified which subsequently develop into the final malignant tumor (Fearon and Vogelstein 1990). By genetic and molecular analysis different genetic changes can be identified leading to activation or inactivation of genes, and these alterations may be correlated to distinct stages in tumor progression.
