Appendix,AC currents in open-wire lines are propagated at a speed equaling almost the velocity of light waves c = 300 000 km/sec. (186 000 miles/sec.) This applies both to the power current frequencies of 16 2/3 cps, 50 cps, and to the carrier frequencies of 15 kc to 500 kc as used in power line communication systems.
