The Role of Sodium/Calcium Exchange in the Regulation of Vascular Contractilitystions about Ca. metabolism in VSM: Is the SR store of Ca. modulated? And if so, how? How is Ca. extruded and Ca. balance maintained? And, how is supra-threshold [Ca.]c and tonic tension maintained in VSM that exhibits tonic contractions? The answers to these questions are essential for understanding how tension is regulated in VSM.

Modulation and Functions of Neuronal Ca2+ Permeable Channelstransmitter release. Voltage sensitive Ca. channels and receptor operated Ca. channels have been studied extensively in nerve cells both from the peripheral and central nervous systems. In this article I shall review some of the properties of these channels, how they can be regulated physiologically and some of the consequences of this regulation.
