At the moment there is a gap between a non-favourable political and security position of Serbia and its public health -preparedness for bioterrorism.

Many of these investments, although prompted by the concern for bioterrorism, have served to strengthen public health, medical, and emergency response systems overall and have proven invaluable in responses to other large-scale emergencies, such as the 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic.
