System Response,an . In some sense what we are trying to do is reverse engineer a system. Typically we think of scientists as being concerned with the inverse problem (figuring out the system) and engineers as being concerned with the forward problem (given the equations figuring out how the system will behave).

Feedback,ains feedback. Very briefly, there are two primary reasons. First, feedback can be used to allow an inherently unstable system to remain stable. Second, feedback opens the door to controlling the output of a system. We will explore stability in this chapter and control in the next.
