Effects of MCC-135 on Ca2+ uptake by sarcoplasmic reticulum and myofilament sensitivity to Ca2+ in respectively. In diabetic rats, SR Ca. uptake was decreased, which was related to decrease in protein level of SR Ca.-ATPase determined by western blot analysis. Mitogen-activated protein kinases in the acute diabetic myocardium,he level of ERKs were found at baseline. However, in DM samples ERKs phosphorylation was markedly increased, and further changes occurred during ischemia. Also content of phoshorylated c-Raf kinase (an upstream activator of ERKs) was slightly increased at baseline conditions in the diabetic samples.

Effect of chronic treatment with losartan on streptozotocin-induced renal dysfunction,on was found between biochemical parameters and histopathological abnormalities. Our data suggests that, losartan may be considered as the drug of choice when there is a co-existence of diabetes mellitus and hypertension with compromised kidney function.
