The Somatovisceral Sensory Systemt provide a brief overview of mmWave communication focusing on WLAN. We then discuss some novel techniques adopted in IEEE 802.11ad and IEEE 802.11ay standards. Finally, we present three key medium access control (MAC) protocols to overcome the challenges of the of directional mmWave communications.
