Relativistic AstrometryConcepts of relativistic astrometry — such as Weyl’s stellar compass or the concept of ‘flat-space plus forces’ — are discussed. To visualize effects from light deflection pictures showing the stellar sky as seen from the vicinity of a strongly gravitating source are presented.

Current Work on Binary and Multiple StarsFollowing the kind invitation of Prof. Kopal, I am going to refer at this Conference on current work carried out by the IAU Commission 26, after having circulated a letter to all members to collect recent information at various places. I am grateful to those who replied in time for this report, which will also contain some personal considerations.

On the Observation of Double Stars for the Determination of Their Proper Motions the visual method only. In some declination zones these stars have been observed at a few observatories of the USSR and in Strasbourg, Santiago de Chile and Beograd. The importance of further DS observations, particularly in the southern sky, is stressed.
