From Cultural Heritage to Cultural Tourism: A Historical-Conceptual Approach,d with the dynamics of cultural heritage and cultural tourism is proposed, highlighting their mutual dependence as a resource and a product. Our objective, through a literature review, is to contribute to the definition of the timeline associated with these important concepts, structural for tourism, as a system.

The results also reveal that economic growth, labour force participation, and urbanization are allies of sustainable development, while the dependence on natural resource rents has adverse effects. Achieving sustainability in the long run requires the commitment of all the stakeholders.
