Observing Systems for Weather, Climate, and Global Change—An Evolution from Surface to SpaceToday’s atmospheric scientist would find it difficult to imagine the world without weather satellites, the first of which was launched in 1960. To put the use of weather satellites in proper perspective, we should look at the development of meteoroloy and how these satellites have affected the weather services of the world.
